Displacing Diesel with Electric

Electric Commercial Vehicle Solutions enables organisations to transition beyond diesel-powered transport and equipment

We integrate electric vehicles, energy infrastructure, control systems, and operational expertise into solutions that work as a complete system. Our approach reduces risk for operators by managing the complexity of electrification, so the transition from diesel makes commercial sense from day one.

ECVS brings more than 14 years of hands-on commercial EV deployment experience across New Zealand, Australia, Germany and Africa.

Vehicles, energy, automation, robotics and support delivered as a system.

Design

Vehicles, energy systems, controls delivered as one integrated solution. No finger-pointing between suppliers. One point of accountability.

De-risk

Staged transition pathways that let operators electrify at their own pace. Start with a subsystem. Scale to a full vehicle. Each step delivers measurable savings.

Deploy

Outcomes that stand on their own economics. Lower fuel costs, reduced maintenance, and operational performance that justifies the investment without subsidies.

2013 ZEV 9000 Compactor Truck

In 2011 Zero Emission Vehicles Ltd won the tender to supply a New Zealand regional council with a battery electric compacting rubbish truck. This was a world first design incorporating dual electric traction motors and gearbox integrated electric hydraulic PTO

20 years ahead of its time and with a ZEV designed and built gearbox this vehicle allowed simultaneous traction drive with one motor and PTO operation with the other

2017 Underground Electric LV Australia

The Voltra was designed to utilise the popular Toyota Landcruiser platform but was heavily modified to be 100% battery electric and zero emission

Designed and built from the EVNet™ philosophy, the project was successful and popular with operators and management

The harsh environment of 45C+ ambient temperatures combined with a mud slurry 7x the salitnity of sea water is where our EVNet™ software suite and current vehicle designs get their robustness

2022 Strautmann ePrimus Germany

The eSherpa and ePrimus prototypes were comissioned to kickstart the electric transition for German company Strautmann & Söhne GmbH

Deployed with 4 eletric motors and 800V architecture, the products aim to completely remove hydraulics and enable advanced energy management through V2X integration of solar generation and energy storage on farms

2023 eBowl Agitator Kits

In 2023 Kahu EV completed two electric concrete mixer battery bowl drive kits which aimed to prove the possibility of mixing concrete with electricity instead of diesel

Both kits are currently under trial, performing very well with clear positive results in terms of energy, emissions and noise savings all while using considerably less energy than expected

Most importantly, the operator is enjoying a 27% fuel saving while the drivers enjoy trucks with more power

EK16 Truck

2023 EK16 New Zealand Built Trucks

The EK16S is the first wholly New Zealand designed, constructed, and certified medium duty battery electric truck range with vehicles operating in Auckland, Tauranga and Napier

Operating as container shuttles, the EK16 platform is a simple motor + 6 speed gearbox configuration suited to long wheelbase applications where space is not an issue

2026 EK18 Modular Truck Platform

The Kahu EK18 is the next generation modular platform that combines the best of breed heavy vehicle components into a solution that is fit for purpose in the New Zealand and Australian commercial vehicle industry

The Kahu EK18 platform is built using industry standard braking, steering and suspension components from trusted suppliers such as Wabco/ZF and Hendrickson while including the best from world leading Chinese companies shuch as CATL for batteries
