Route Planner

Confirm the right vehicle specification against your actual routes, loads, and operating conditions before committing capital.

The Tool

Specification built on real data

The ECVS Route Planner takes in everything about the vehicle and its operating environment: gross vehicle mass, trip distances, payloads, road characteristics, driveline specifications, battery type, road gradients, and speed zones. It calculates exactly how much energy the vehicle will consume on a given route.

The model also determines whether the vehicle can physically complete the route, including gradient capability and traction limits. It answers the most fundamental question in EV specification: can this vehicle do this job?

The output is a precise vehicle specification built on real route data. This is the starting point for every ECVS deployment.

Why It Matters

The cost of getting specification wrong

Under-specification risks

A vehicle that cannot complete its daily routes is a stranded asset. Cold weather alone can reduce EV range by 25-50%. Without simulation against real conditions, operational disruptions and failed deliveries become a real risk.

Over-specification waste

Oversized batteries tie up unnecessary capital. Heavy commercial EVs represent a significant investment per vehicle. Right-sizing the battery to the actual duty cycle avoids paying for capacity that sits unused every day.

Data-backed confidence

Organisations that use disciplined specification approaches consistently achieve better total cost of ownership outcomes. Route simulation identifies which vehicles can transition immediately and which routes require further planning.

Phased transition

Route analysis reveals which part of your fleet can electrify now and which needs to wait. A staged, data-led transition reduces risk and builds operational confidence incrementally, rather than committing the entire fleet at once.

Maintenance cost reduction

Properly specified EVs eliminate oil changes, transmission servicing, exhaust systems, and engine overhauls. The Route Planner ensures you capture these savings by confirming the vehicle can do the work before purchase.

Infrastructure alignment

Knowing the exact energy demand per route directly informs charging infrastructure requirements. The Route Planner feeds into CVMS so that vehicle specification and site energy planning are always aligned.
