The Product
Electric drive for heavy trailers
The ENERVA™ Powered Trailer Kit is a complete electric propulsion system that replaces a standard trailer axle with an integrated eAxle, battery pack, thermal management, and vehicle controls. It turns a passive trailer into an actively powered, intelligent asset.
This is not a bolted-on afterthought. Using the same proven drive axle components as the Kahu EV EK18 truck platform, backed by the same EVNet™ vehicle control system, telematics, and cloud-based energy management. Everything ECVS offers for the truck is available for the trailer.
The axle, brakes, and wear parts can be tailored to match your existing trailer specifications and fleet parts inventory, minimising disruption to your maintenance operations and supply chain.

Significant fuel reduction
The trailer actively assists the truck under acceleration and on grades, dramatically reducing diesel consumption. The tractor engine works less because the trailer is doing some of the work.
Regenerative braking
Energy captured during braking and downhill sections is stored in the battery and reused. This extends range, reduces brake wear, and turns wasted energy into usable power.
Improved & distrubuted grip

Battery capacity from 100kWh to 600kWh in approximately 100kWh increments. Sized to your route, payload, and available chassis space. LFP or NMC chemistry available.

Modular Solution
Each kit includes the integrated eAxle with motor and multi-speed gearbox built into the axle housing, battery system, power distribution, onboard charger, thermal management for both battery and driveline, and the full EVNet™ control system with cloud telematics.
The integrated eAxle design eliminates bulky external drivelines. The motor and gearbox sit within the axle housing itself, giving a compact and efficient package with pure electronic differentials and quieter, more reliable operation.
All components are pre-integrated on a single network. No compatibility issues, no finger-pointing between suppliers. One system, one point of accountability.

The ENERVA™ Powered Trailer Kit is built around CATL's Tectrans commercial vehicle battery platform. CATL is the world's largest battery manufacturer and the Tectrans range is purpose-built for the demands of heavy commercial transport: high cycle life, robust construction, and proven reliability across thousands of deployments globally.
Battery capacity is configurable from 100kWh to 600kWh in approximately 100kWh increments, sized to your route profile, payload requirements, and available chassis space. LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) chemistry is standard, offering excellent safety, stability, and long cycle life.
Two Tectrans variants are available depending on your operational profile, allowing you to optimise for either charging speed or total battery lifespan.

Trailer Integration
New builds
For new trailer builds, the powered axle and battery system is designed into the chassis from the outset. This allows optimal packaging, maximum battery capacity for the available space, and a clean integration that looks and performs like factory equipment.
Retrofit conversions
For existing trailers, the kit is designed to retrofit with minimal structural modification. The eAxle replaces a standard axle, and the battery packs mount within the existing chassis rails. Brakes, hubs, and wear parts are specified to match your current fleet parts, so your workshop already knows how to service them.
